Supervise the day to day activities of distribution center operations, specifically receiving operations. Plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production shops ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so parts and supplies are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. Personnel management responsibility including training, planning and assigning daily work, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. The supervisor continuously strives to make the organization more effective and productive, through utilization of business processes and practices and common tools as well as looking for new and innovative ways to get work done in a safe and timely manner.
Essential Duties:
Monitor the unloading of all materials into the Receiving Department; ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving associates accurately report material received. Resolve discrepancies with appropriate departments regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
Plan and coordinate tasks, train and motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of Receiving Associates; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsel, record, and discipline as necessary. Develop Team Leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned Team Members.
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet distribution center demands as dictated by work flow.
Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices.
Recommend methods for improving associate efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
Maintain and enhance existing safety policies and procedures for the distribution center operations.
Continuously improve distribution center operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
Perform root cause analysis on receipt discrepancies by interacting with team members and other departments
Ensure Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are set, maintained and tracked daily for improvements. KPIs include: timely receipt and put away of material, accurate put away of material, safety incident prevention and overtime management.
Maintain high level of Quality, Customer Service, and regulatory compliance.
Manage a safe work environment by advocating safety training, accident preparedness, and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations. Ensures adherence to proper safety and sanitation regulations and the appropriate policies/procedures.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with peers, team and senior management in order to communicate effectively and strategically implement solutions.
Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, developing accountability in associates, and measuring results.
Other miscellaneous duties as required by the ODC Manager or General Manager
Job Requirements :
Qualifications(Education and Experience):
Required
Associate degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) - Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field from an accredited college or university and/or,
Three or more years of progressive responsibility in a high-volume warehousing/inventory control environment.
Desired
Previous supervisory experience.
Seasonal consumer products distribution and life-cycle knowledge and experience
