THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:
Design complex parts and/or assemblies. Reports to the Engineering Manager. This position open due to a promotion within the company.
Handle all designs from original concept to production. Write parameters for assigned projects to include scheduling, cost data, serviceability, cost, and functional requirements. Assure that all projects meet the parameters.
Solve design/quality problems
Make necessary layouts required to solve the design objective/s and meet the outlined parameters. Make all calculations to satisfy strength, loads, performance and other criteria.
Check finished drawings for accuracy of design, tolerances, fit, manufacturing capability, materials, drafting standards etc. Insure the designs are functionally correct
Approve and review build of material specs for ride category
Write specs for materials and finishes
Coordinate Parts tracking, tooling approval, bill of materials and costing of the parts assigned as well as the complete project.
Supervise construction and testing of pilot run models and write test procedures as required. Analyze test data and make recommendations.
Remain informed regarding competitor products, new technologies, pricing conditions, etc.
Participate in inter-company cost reductions including making recommendations
Maintain follow-up with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and vendors.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Vehicle Design Engineering, or related field from a four year college of university plus 5-10 years relevant design experience.
Previous experience with vehicles, consumer products and agricultural part design preferred - strong preference with outdoor equipment design.
Ability to work closely with manufacturing and industrial engineering teams.
Military service a plus
3D CAD modeling experience with CATIA v5 or similar package and experience with CFD
Understanding of FEA, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T for part design.
Proficiency in MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Ability to travel to domestic and/or international sites.
Able to work flexible work schedule to support manufacturing operations as required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
